Line Improvements
The following are suggestions to improve the lines for the festival.
Cosplay Line
wiwel#8150 has suggested that the staff should implement a cosplay line for the cosplayers to line up for the festival. As there were some cosplayers that put in a lot of effort, yet were unable to show off their cosplays due to the extremely long lines.
Proper Line Segregation
Unlike last year, it was harder to tell whether or not there is a line for PWDs and Premium Pass holders. It would be better if the staff could implement some sort of clear signage to indicate the line for PWDs and Premium Pass holders versus the Regular Line (and possibly the Cosplay Line).
Other Recommendations
[iAC] NaCL#8608 has recommended the following:
Blocked time slots for Entry and Re-entry
This will be determined based on the type of ticket the attendee owns.
Block Entry Ticket Example:
- Type 1
- 9AM-11AM | 1PM-3PM | 6PM-7PM
- Type 2
- 11AM-1PM | 3PM-6PM | 7PM-8PM
Entry Procedure Outline:
Con-goers will be expected to fall in line at designated times in accordance to their wrist band types.
- The organizers will provide attendees with estimated time frames for when they should start queuing. Upon reaching the door the wrist bands will be scanned depending on the type of wristband they have they may be denied or allowed entry. A grace period of about 15-30 mins may be observed .
- Will need to be tested/verified it it will affect the length of the queue
Situational Example (based on the examples outlined above):
- Attendee A has Type 1
- Attendee B has Type 2 Attendee A falls in line at their designated time alongside Attendee B. Both Attendees get to the entrance and their Tickets are scanned.
- Attendee A is allowed entry as this is their designated entry time
- Attendee B is denied entry and is asked to leave the queue and come back during their designated entry period.
How will this be implemented?
Possible implementation methods:
- Distinct symbols on the attendee’s entry ticket
- Pros:
- May only require a new design for existing wristband infrastructure and thus no additional cost compared to the previous conquest.
- Cons:
- May take up too much time due to volunteers needing to actively keep track of the symbols
- Pros:
- Designated Barcodes/QR codes on the attendee’s entry ticket.
- Pro:
- Automation will allow for a more seamless entry procedure.
- Bouncers will not need to actively keep track of entry ticket types.
- Cons:
- May require a larger investment.
- A software will need to be created for the management of the entry ticket types.
- Pro:
How will ticket types be distributed?
Upon ticket purchase attendees will be asked to select a preferred ticket type (until supplies last).
How can you minimize attendees choosing to ignore designated entry types?
Bouncers and volunteers will need to be firm and abide by the entry guidelines. Attendees who ignore their designated entry time will be denied entry and asked to leave the queue.
How do we ensure there will be enough bouncers and volunteers to ensure smooth entry?
Replace wristbands with digital/printable tickets
- Doing this will allow the organizers to reallocate the volunteers who are meant to pass out wristbands to instead help with queue management
